About Me. I was very fortunate to get my start in bamboo rod making in 1999 through a course with the late master rodmaker George Maurer of Sweetwater Rods. Since then I've been making rods on my own, employing his techniques plus little twists I've learned on my own along the way. As a result, I have developed a line of no nonsense rods with classic good looks.
My Tapers. Rod tapers are hard to describe with words like fast, slow, dryfly, or wetfly. Several people can cast the same rod, and each person could have a different opinion of how the rod feels. Your casting style and what you are most familiar with using will determine what feels right to you. My tapers are mostly variations of Young, Granger, and Payne. If you would like to try any of my rods, I keep a prototype of all of my models at my shop. Also, my rods can be seen at The Feathered Hook, LTD.
