G. Maxwell Rods run a wide range of lengths, weights, and action types.  My tapers were all inspired by classic rodmakers of the past, such as Young, Payne, and Granger.  Fishermen past and present have proved all of these rods to be excellent performers.  Regardless of your needs or desires, one of my tapers should fit you just right. 

Each bamboo rod has a different feel that is determined by its length, weight, and taper.  There are no good or bad tapers.  They are all just different.  A bamboo rod, like a tailor-made suit, can be made to fit the fisherman just right.  Because my rods are individually handmade, there are no limitations on their taper design.

My rods are made with flamed bamboo and have swelled butts.  They are also made with the highest quality components available.  This includes: bright, chrome finished snakes guides and, nickel silver ferrules.  My guides are wrapped with garnet colored 000 silk thread guide wraps.  The reel seats have your choice of select hardwood inserts and nickel silver hardware.  You will find that I pay close attention to every detail of construction.  It is my greatest desire to make rods that are top performers as well as pleasing to the eye.
